During my training, I developed a passion for rehabilitation, and I chose to work in the major Spinal Injury, Head Injury and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Units in Scotland, where I also developed an interest and expertise in vocational training and ergonomics. My other major interest is paediatrics and I worked for 10 years at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Glasgow, (five of them as Head Occupational Therapist) with specific interests in neuro paediatrics, all aspects of acute paediatrics, paediatric hand function, juvenile arthritis, independence training, developmental programmes for under 5’s, with particular interest in under 2’s. I also worked in special schools and child development centres, so have expertise and training in all aspects of paediatrics, including certified training in sensory integration, orthotics and prosthetics.

During my training and my career, I have also been very involved in the provision of sport for the disabled and assisted at many national paraplegic games, swimming and other sporting events. Due to my experience in rehabilitation, I was asked to set up a successful private Rehabilitation Unit in Durban, which opened in 2005 and which I managed for its first year, and I have also been involved in designing facilities for the elderly. I have chosen to set up my private practice at On Track Centre for Sports Excellence, as due to the holistic and dynamic team approach, this will allow the provision of occupational therapy services, to adults and children with physical and neurological problems, and allow them to gain optimal clinical outcomes, in a team based rehab environment.
